Social Media Comment Policy

Comments made on our social media platforms are reviewed for compliance with our public comment policy. We welcome comments reflecting any point of view on topics under the authority of the Board, but we expect comments to be civil. We reserve the right to remove comments that contain any of the following: 

• Comments that are not related to matters under the authority of the State Board of Education. 

• Links to materials that are not related to matters under the authority of the State Board of Education or are malicious in nature. 

• Violent, obscene, profane or threatening language. 

• Comments that suggest or encourage illegal activity. 

• Promoting or opposing any person campaigning for election to a political office or promoting or opposing any ballot proposition, legislation, or agency rule making. 

• Advertisements or solicitations, commercial promotions or spam. 

• Repetitive posts, including those that are copied and pasted. 

Please note: Requests for public records should not be submitted via comment. Those wishing to request records should use OSPI’s public records request form. Additionally, all content submitted by users is potentially subject to public disclosure pursuant to the RCW 42.56. Likewise, a post or comment related to a proposed agency rule will not be considered by the agency under RCW 34.05.
