Two seats on the State Board of Education are currently up for election. The election, administered by the Washington State School Directors' Association (WSSDA), will run from October 1–16, 2025. All currently seated public school directors are eligible to vote. Certified results will be announced on WSSDA's Elections Result webpage on or shortly after October 20, 2025.
The two seats up for election are Western Region Seat 5 and Eastern Region Seat 2, each serving a four-year term. A list of candidates who have filed for office is available on WSSDA's State Board Elections webpage.
In total, five of the Board's positions are filled through elections by members of Washington’s public school boards of directors. Two elected members represent eastern Washington, and three represent western Washington.
