Graduation Requirements for the Class of 2015

SBE to Discuss High-Quality High School and Beyond Plans and Processes

State Board of Education Considers Revisions to State High School Graduation Requirements

TACOMA, Wash. – The Washington State Board of Education’s September 14-15 meeting at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma will include a discussion of potential changes to graduation requirements for Washington high school students.

Proposed rule changes maintain the state-mandated number of credits at 20, but include the following adjustments:

TUMWATER, Wash. – The Washington State Board of Education’s January 12-13 meeting at the New Market Skills Center in Tumwater will include a review of Governor Gregoire’s K-12 budget proposal and the implications for Washington’s public schools.

The Board will review and discuss its legislative priorities, including the revised graduation requirements for the Class of 2016, the mathematics and science graduation requirements for the Class of 2013, and the Governor’s proposal for a new Department of Education.

State Board of Education Formulates New Plan to Assist Challenged Schools

VANCOUVER, Wash. – The State Board of Education, in its bimonthly meeting occurring this November 12-13 at the Heathman Lodge, will consider a proposal to help Washington state’s most challenged schools.

The proposal includes an option of state intervention, a dramatic change from current education practice. For now, challenged schools may volunteer for state assistance and support programs, but they are not required to do so.
